Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Communication Studies and Technology Interplay (JoCoSTin) publishes original, high-quality research articles that explore the relationship between communication studies and digital, media, and information technologies.

Scope of the Journal

JoCoSTin welcomes manuscripts related to, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Communication studies and media theory

  • Digital communication and new media

  • Human–computer interaction (HCI)

  • Social media and data-driven communication

  • Artificial intelligence in communication

  • Digital culture, journalism, and public relations

  • Information systems and communication technology

  • E-learning and educational technology

  • Technology and society

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare their manuscripts according to the following requirements:

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.

  • The manuscript should be prepared using the JoCoSTin article template.

  • The structure of the manuscript should include:
    Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

  • Abstract length: 150–250 words.

  • Keywords: 3–6 keywords, separated by semicolons.

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in DOC/DOCX format.

References and Citations

  • References must follow the IEEE citation style.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

  • All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa.

Originality and Ethics

  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.

  • All manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using similarity-checking tools.

  • Authors must comply with ethical standards, including proper citation, authorship transparency, and disclosure of any conflicts of interest.

Peer Review Process

  • JoCoSTin applies a double-blind peer review process.

  • Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.

  • The editorial decision is based on reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s editorial standards.
